About the Author
Stephanie Stoker writes clean, contemporary romance and laugh-out-loud romantic comedies. An indie author through and through, she launched her first published book in 2021 and has absolutely loved every step of her independent publishing journey. While her heart belongs to contemporary romance, she also loves to dabble in writing fantasy behind the scenes, though she hasn't released any of those projects to the world just yet.
When she isn't writing, Stephanie is "mom-ing hard core" or catching up on much-needed sleep. While managing her busy household, she loves making homemade sourdough, spending time out in the fresh air, and teaching her kids how to be independent, happy little humans.
🏛️ Crafting Chemistry & Comedic Timing
For Stephanie, writing serves as the ultimate creative sandbox to unwind after the kids have gone to bed. Her storytelling method focuses heavily on building deep, intentional backstories and mapping out the subtle, natural ways that two characters click together.
In her latest release, More Than Fine—a fan-favorite "brother's best friend" and "enemies-to-lovers" clean rom-com—she brilliantly showcases this technique. The story follows a heartbroken heroine returning home to Nevada only to collide with a gorgeous, charming FBI agent who happens to be her brother's best friend. When diving into her work, pay close attention to how she balances playful banter, high-energy comedic timing, and genuine emotional tension to create clean, "aww-worthy" romances that keep readers turning pages well past midnight.
✒️ Industry & Craft Perspective
Since debuting in 2021, Stephanie represents the immense drive and adaptability of the modern independent author. Navigating the indie industry requires wearing multiple hats simultaneously—acting as writer, publisher, and direct-to-fan marketer all at once.
For members of the Weber County Writing Center, Stephanie’s journey provides a fantastic masterclass in creative balance. She is a shining blueprint for how working writers can carve out space for a thriving publishing career amidst a busy family life, treating the blank page not as an imposing chore, but as a deeply fulfilling personal escape.
